This Saturday will be the last day for Sweet Granada's current location at 805 Commercial, but chocolate lovers don't need to worry: owner Kim Redeker says the shop will reopen soon.
Redeker is moving Sweet Granada to a new location just down the block, to 803 Commercial. Redeker is finally reuniting the production and retail operations at one location, after having an off-site production facility in Olpe for four years.
The move has been challenging, with electrical problems resulting in a loss of inventory. Twice, the power to the building has shut off the air conditioning, and instead turned on the furnace, melting all the chocolate.
Sweet Granada has been a family-owned staple of downtown Emporia since 2004.
