More discussion is set to take place Tuesday night on significant upgrades to the Osage City Municipal Airport.
City Council members have further talk on approving a longer runway on their agenda. Council members accepted state grant funding for projects including hangar replacement and repaving the runway two weeks ago, but they didn't discuss federal funding approved by voters several years ago. The Federal Aviation Administration has said it would fund 90 percent, or $4.1 million, with the city's share at around $200,000.
Lengthening the runway some 1,500 feet would lead to a wider array of business jets coming to Osage City including Lear jets. A "no" vote would mean Osage City would have to repay some $90,000 in pre-project costs to the FAA.
