Turnpike crash near Lyon-Chase county line injures three Emporians

A tire blowout led to an injury accident on the Kansas Turnpike near the Lyon-Chase county line Saturday afternoon.

The Turnpike Authority says 30-year-old Anna Marie Titus of Emporia was northbound when her right front tire blew out roughly 13 miles southwest of Emporia shortly before 3:30 pm. Titus' car left the highway and rolled down an embankment.

Titus and two passengers, 33-year-old John Wiedel and 11-year-old Brandon Wiedel, both of Emporia, were all hospitalized -- Titus at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, with the Wiedels going to Newman Regional Health. Titus is in fair condition. Newman Regional Health does not release patient conditions to the media.
