Osage County murder suspect arraigned for March 31

An Osage County judge has bound over a suspect charged with premeditated first-degree murder.

 

In a 4-hour preliminary hearing Friday, James Harris was bound over by Osage County Magistrate Judge Taylor Wine. This follows Harris being arrested and charged with the murder of 49-year old James Gerety.

The Topeka Capitol-Journal reports new evidence brough to light reveals the brutality of the murder. According to a criminal complaint, Gerety was slain between March 3 and April 20 of 2011.

Harris was charged in November but was serving a firearms charge in Texas, so he was not immediately available for court proceedings.

Harris will be arraigned on March 31 in Osage County District Court. He could receive life in prison if convicted.
