Army Corps of Engineers schedules information meeting on reservoir projects

Planning continues to start dredging John Redmond Reservoir, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has scheduled a special information update in Hartford on April 3.

Corps staffers along with representatives of the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, Kansas Water Office and U.S. Fish and Wildlife will cover topics like the dredging project, recreation options, wildlife management and refuge areas, public access and boat ramp access.

The Kansas Water Office announced last year it was planning to dredge the lake, which has silted in at a faster rate than expected the past 30 years. Dredging could start by winter 2015.

The meeting will be at the Hartford Community Building. For more information, call Corps of Engineers Kansas Area Manager Eugene Goff at 620-364-8613.
