The Coffey County Hospital obstetrics department is benefiting from a sizable donation from the Friends of Coffey Health System.
The volunteer auxiliary department recently donated $20,000 towards the purchase of new fetal monitors. This equipment is used during labor and delivery to make sure babies are doing well as they enter the world. The monitors keep track of the baby's heart rate and also how often the mother is having contractions.
The current monitors are functional but won't be supported for maintenance or repairs in the near future.
