Tallgrass Preserve seeking help in developing large event plan

The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve is asking for public input as it begins what is known as a Large Event Plan and Environmental Assessment.


The process of defining large events has only begun at the preserve, and the purpose of the document is to both evaluate possibilities of big events on the grounds like the Symphony in the Flint Hills and potential impacts to resources. Superintendent Wendy Lauritzen:

The planning team is developing options to evaluate objectives and goals with both halves of the plan. Visitor numbers, event and parking areas, noise limits, permit requirements and safety issues are all being researched.

The comment period ends March 31. A special open house is coming at the preserve visitor center from 3 to 7 pm Wednesday.
