Over 173 tickets were sold to the EFOZ Round-Up Auction Friday. The auction takes place at the EFOZ Ranch, a.k.a. the Emporia Country Club, and benefits the Emporia Friends of the Zoo.
Zoo director Lisa Keith says the community always shows great support in their local zoo.

Some of this year's auction items included sponsorships of different animals, photography and fine art pieces, and the chance to flip the switch for the zoo's annual Happy Holidaze lighting ceremony before Thanksgiving.
$27,000 was raised in total. Funds will help set the stage for future zoo expansion and also pay for zoo programs. The top-selling item was the annual sponsorship of the cougar cub, who is currently in the process of being named.
