The Emporia Senior Center has a new director.
Lannie Lyman was a unanimous pick of the Senior Center board during a special meeting Wednesday.
Board chair Roy Lingenfelter says Lyman's office manager experience, computer expertise and communication skills made her a good fit for the job.
Lyman earned a business administration degree from Flint Hills Technical College, serving as an admissions specialist for the college as well, and was most recently the patient care coordinator at Hartland Hearing Center for a year. She has been unavailable for comment.
Lyman replaces Susan Riley, who recently became the nursing home administrator at AmeriCare in Eureka after a dozen years directing the Emporia center.
The Senior Center board also hired Sandy Wasner as administrative assistant. Lingenfelter says Wasner has a lot of work in senior care and also knows the clientele at the Senior Center, making her a good fit for the job.
Eight candidates applied, with some applying for both open positions.
