The Kansas Attorney General's Office is marking National Consumer Protection Week with document shredding events across the state.
One of those events is coming to Emporia on Friday. Dillons at 902 East 12th will have a special shredder on hand from 11 am to 1 pm. Area residents are asked to bring three small bags or boxes or less to shred.
Attorney General Derek Schmidt says securely shredding personal documents is a big step in preventing identity theft.
