KDOT, local leaders want input on U.S. 50 changes west of Emporia

Public input is wanted as local and state officials continue their work on improving safety and access along parts of U.S. Highway 50 west of Emporia.

City and Lyon County officials are joining representatives of the Kansas Department of Transportation for a special meeting March 11 on the Highway 50 Access Management Plan currently under discussion. City and county leaders have met separately to talk about possibly adding entrances or exits to the highway between Interstate 35 and Road "F."

The study will start next spring or summer. Costs will be borne by KDOT and Emporia Enterprises.

The meeting will be from 5 to 7 pm at Flint Hills Technical College. For information, call KDOT's Kim Qualls at 785-640-9340 or email
