Emporia Public Library wants input on services

The Emporia Public Library is soliciting input over the next few weeks on what current services area residents enjoy -- and what services they would like to see.

Library Director Sue Blechl says it's part of a long-term plan for both services and, just as importantly, overall budgets.

The library currently receives four mils, or close to $700,000, from the city, along with about half a mil for employee benefits. At this stage, Blechl anticipates requesting another one to two mils from the city to fully fund the demand.

The Emporia Public Library Board is discussing the matter next week, and board members plan to meet with both Emporia city and Lyon County commissioners over the next two months.
