Winter Weather Advisory, Wind Chill Warning in effect for KVOE listening area

Sunday's winter storm brought snow and sleet, and left behind bitter cold temperatures across much of the KVOE listening area.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Lyon, Coffey, and Osage counties until midnight Monday, while a Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Monday. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Chase County until 9 p.m. Sunday, and Greenwood County until midnight Monday. Wind chill warnings are in effect for Chase and Greenwood Counties until 8 a.m. Monday.

The National Weather Service predicts another round of light snowfall around 8 p.m. Sunday evening. Areas south of Council Grove and Ottawa could see up to another two inches of accumulation.

Bitterly cold wind chill readings of 10 to 15 below zero are expected through the day Monday. Roads remain slick in spots, and travel is still discouraged as road crews work around the clock to clear them.

12pm: More snow, less sleet expected.

TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers says this was a difficult storm to forecast.

Light to moderate snow showers and sleet are expected to continue into early afternoon hours, clearing up by later Sunday.

Road crews are out clearing local streets, and travel is discouraged Sunday.
