City Commission receiving community-initiated development study

Economic development matters highlight the Emporia City Commission study meeting agenda for Wednesday morning.

Commissioners will receive the final community-initiated development report from BG Consultants as sponsored by the city, Kansas Department of Commerce and Kansas Department of Transportation. The report will outline market assessments, existing conditions, development concepts and possible means for implementation.

Commissioners will also get a status report on the Breckenridge Hotel project in the former Lowther North building, including the possible impact on the 2014 street rehabilitation project. Developers are hoping to open the hotel either late this year or early next year.

In addition, Property Enforcement Program Director Jim Whittredge will discuss the documentation of program violations.

The meeting starts at 10 am at White Auditorium City Conference Room 1 AB.
