Eureka man arrested for attempted battery after accidental shooting

An accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound has led to the arrest of a Eureka man Saturday.

Greenwood County Detective Josh Nelson says officials were called to the 300 block of South Valley Street in Eureka shortly after 6 am after a report of a gunshot wound.

Officials found 37-year-old Jerrad Dunn with a non-life-threatening wound to the side of his neck after an accidental, self-inflicted wound. Dunn was treated and later booked on suspicion of two counts of attempted aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer after unspecified actions while deputies were trying to offer assistance.

Formal charges are pending. The investigation continues.
