Equipment issues have forced power outages in sections of Emporia on Saturday.
The first developed in east Emporia as showers and embedded thunderstorms crossed the city.
Westar spokesman Nick Bundy says an insulator failed, causing close to 170 customers to lose power from around 6 am to around 9:30 am.
The second outage affected northwest Emporia after a transformer malfunctioned at the 30th and Prairie substation. Nearly 1,060 customers were without power before it was restored around noon.
