ESU plans party for enrollment figures

Emporia State University has been anticipating a higher fall enrollment for months, and although it's not releasing any numbers yet, it has announced plans for a celebration Friday afternoon.

Activities will start at 3:30 pm at Plumb Hall.

Typically, universities release their enrollment figures after 20 days of classes, which was Sept. 16. However, this year the Kansas Board of Regents said it wanted to report all the state university enrollment numbers at the same time.

Fall enrollment decreased less than two percent last year after several years of more significant declines, but spring enrollment earlier this year was up 1.3 percent. Numerous indicators point to higher enrollment this fall, including more meal plans and heavier interest in on-campus housing.
