Attendance thin at health care watch party

Following a trend from the previous two so-called "watch parties" on health care changes, attendance at the final live watch party at Flint Hills Technical College was light.

Ten people sat in on a discussion on the www.HealthCare.gov website, including a walk-through of different features such as how to use the online marketplace, how to get lower-cost insurance, coverage for young adults, business coverage and consumer rights.

The information will be rebroadcast three times next Tuesday at the Emporia Public Library.

If you missed any of the watch parties, the Kansas Insurance Department will host its own meeting on health insurance changes as part of the Affordable Care Act. The Emporia meeting will be Oct. 3 at the Bowyer Community Building and will feature an overview of the new health law, an explanation of upcoming changes and a demonstration of the online insurance marketplace.
