Tax season is upon us, and pardon the pun, but it can be taxing work for most of us. Fortunately, there is help available.
Representatives from the AARP Tax-Aide program are stationed at the Emporia Senior Center and Emporia State Federal Credit Union on Industrial. Sally Conard says there are some changes this year.
Conard is the regional coordinator for AARP's Tax-Aide program. She says she's had a lot of people in the past file returns solely for those credits.
There is no charge for this service, and it is a volunteer-driven service. Conard says the volunteers are all tested and certified to help you navigate this year's taxes, which are due by April 15.
This service is appointment-only, as Conard says that will hopefully get people helped more quickly. Appointments are being taken through the Senior Center, but apply to both the center and ESFCU. For more information, call the Senior Center at 343-3160.
