Coffey Health System can now give patients access to the latest diagnostic imaging technology.
The new Phillips Brilliance CT scanner can produce detailed images of the body in seconds. Coffey County Hospital is the first hospital in Kansas to receive this new technology, and among only a few in the U.S. to have it.
This advanced imaging tool provides doctors with clear images, which can lead to faster, more accurate diagnoses. This enables physicians to detect and treat conditions such as heart disease, cancer, stroke, and lung disease at an earlier stage. It also means quicker scan times, and more pleasant patient experience.
This new CT technology also allows for minimal radiation exposure. The software accompanying this scanner is able to reduce radiation to the patient an additional 70 percent.
Lee Mounkes, CHS radiology department supervisor, said limiting exposure to radiation without sacrificing image quality during CT scans is top priority, and that the real winners will continue to be the patients.
