Funeral coming Feb. 1 for Kramer

Funeral arrangements have been set for ESU Hall of Honor football coach Larry Kramer, who died Saturday at age 71.

A visitation will start at 1 pm Feb. 1 at Emporia's First United Methodist Church. The funeral will follow at 2 pm. Attendees are encouraged to wear Emporia State colors to honor Kramer.

Kramer coached Emporia State from 1983-1994, going 71-54 during his 12 years at the helm and guiding the 1989 team to the NAIA national title game. He was awarded the NAIA Coach of the Year honor that year and was inducted into the ESU Hall of Honor in 2000.

Kramer also coached at Southern Oregon and Austin College, amassing a 127-120-6 overall record in 28 years as head coach. He ended his coaching career as an offensive line coach under Bill Snyder at Kansas State from 1995-1997 after Snyder served as Kramer's assistant at Austin College in 1974 and 1975.
