Final health insurance 'watch party' planned

With the open enrollment period for health insurance now just a few days away, the last so-called "watch party" on health care changes is coming Thursday night at Flint Hills Technical College.

The public is encouraged to view a demonstration of the www.HealthCare.gov website and ask questions afterward.

The meeting starts at 7 pm and will be rebroadcast three times Oct. 1 at the Emporia Public Library if you can't attend. The Oct. 1 date is important because that's when the open enrollment period starts for people across the country.

Meanwhile, the Kansas Insurance Department will host its own meeting on health insurance changes as part of the Affordable Care Act. The Emporia meeting will be Oct. 3 at the Bowyer Community Building and will feature an overview of the new health law, an explanation of upcoming changes and a demonstration of the online insurance marketplace.

Call 800-432-2484 for information. Also go online to www.ksinsurance.org or www.insureks.org.
