Flu season is in full swing, and health officials continue to stress the importance of washing your hands and getting vaccinated to avoid getting sick.
Newman Regional Health Shirley Hogan says the hospital has seen 65 cases of flu since December, some of them serious.
Hogan says pneumonia can accompany the flu, leaving patients with serious respiratory illness. Patients are most infectious within the first few days of getting sick. Hogan says the best way to protect yourself is to wash your hands regularly, and get vaccinated. Leftover vaccines are available at Newman Regional's clinics.
