Hamilton-Janssen set for status hearings in Medicaid fraud cases

Status hearings will come next month for the woman accused of Medicaid fraud in Labette County.

Kristy Hamilton-Janssen, a former assistant girls basketball coach and cook with the Madison-Virgil school district, has hearings Feb. 18. Trial dates will be set later.

Hamilton-Janssen has been charged in two separate but related cases prosecuted by the Kansas Attorney General's Office. She faces a charge of making a false claim to the Medicaid program in one case and single charges of making a false Medicaid claim and conspiracy to make a false claim in the second case.

Authorities say the alleged fraud, which at one point is said to have included an Iowa woman, lasted from 2008 to 2010. The total alleged fraud amount is between $10,000 and $25,000.

Hamilton-Janssen started with Madison-Virgil in August. She resigned in December shortly after Greenwood County deputies arrested her.
