Post-Christmas shopping proves fruitful for local retailers

Last-minute Christmas shopping proved fruitful for Emporia retailers, and now the day after is looking good as well.

Becky Smith of the Town Crier Bookstore says the post-Christmas rush hasn't hit yet, though she expects more people to come in as the afternoon wears on.

Jason Miller of Sutherland's says he's seen steady traffic so far Thursday, mostly using up their gift cards.

Bruce Burenheide of Bluestem Farm and Ranch says Christmas Eve was unusually busy.

Most businesses have continued their special holiday deals and discounts -- and special hours -- through New Year's Day.
