Delane Drive toy drop returns

For nearly three decades, the streets of Delane, Darlene, Diane and Hillcrest light up during the holidays in advance of the neighborhood's annual toy drop. That event returns starting Friday night.

On KVOE's Newsmaker segment Wednesday, spokesman Damon Leiss said luminaries will light the way to the drop site Friday. The drive will go from 6 to 9 pm both Friday and Saturday.

Last year, a lot of Big Wheels and Barbie dolls were donated along with seven bikes. Leiss says the long-running story of one man who received a bike as part of the event when he was a child and has donated two bikes since then needs an adjustment. Leiss says the man actually adopted the drive for a bike delivery after seeing the good it was doing in the community.
