A suspect is in custody after an 8-hour standoff finally ended in Osage County late Tuesday.
A specialized task force consisting of Overbrook Police, Shawnee and Osage County deputies, ATF and U.S. Marshals was sent to the apartment complex at 306 Ash in Overbrook to serve an arrest warrant from their jurisdiction. According to Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn, the suspect opened the door and then quickly closed it when they saw officers.
The suspect was taken into custody at 7:52 pm without incident, and then taken to the hospital for evaluation. Dunn said every safety precaution was taken, including not allowing school children to walk home near the area.
Residents in the apartment complex were also asked to leave the building during the standoff, and streets were blocked off in a 3 to 4 block radius.
