36th Annual Christmas Parade comes just before fog settles in Emporia

Winter weather is returning to the KVOE listening area, but residents attending Tuesday night's Chamber of Commerce 36th annual Christmas parade had beautiful weather to enjoy the festivities.

Before the parade started, First Baptist Church Pastor Rob Clausen delivered the Christmas message. He says the message today is the same as it has always been: love.

Around 80 entries were involved in the parade this year.

The Parade Marshal's Award went to Metal Roof Systems. The Parade Committee Award winner was Sacred Heart. The Chamber Award went to ESU Classified Employees. The Mayor's Award was given to Camp Alexander.

KVOE broadcasted the parade from the new Lyon County Historical Society building. Historical Society Executive Director Greg Jordan says the move into the former Winter Furniture building is going well.

Tours of the building were being given for Historical Society members throughout the evening. Jordan says it's easy to become a member: just stop by the current Society building and pick up an application.

The full parade broadcast is available in KVOE.com's Audio Vault.
