Battle of Badges toy drive continues

The first of two drop-off days for the initial Battle of the Badges toy drop is coming Friday.

Guion's Showcase will have the toy drop from 1 to 5 pm.

On KVOE's Morning Show this week, Police Officer Dominic Vortherms said the agencies are partnering with TFI Family Services to help foster children.

Firefighter Tony Fuller said he and his fellow firefighters jumped at the chance to help.

For years, Emporia Police and Emporia firefighters have had a friendly summer competition to see which agency was the most popular as they asked people to give blood. This year, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office is also involved.

A second toy drop is coming Dec. 7, also at Guion's. You can also donate toys at police headquarters, the Sheriff's Office or Fire Station No. 2 at 15th and Industrial.
