
PRODUCTION WORKER
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for general production work; place plastic
and metal baskets on line, make boxes, set pans, dump trash, remix and do
finish work.
This position has direct responsibility
to ensure that all work activities under its span of control are performed with
attention to the highest standards of food quality, safe processes, compliance
with all appropriate legal requirements and a focus on continuous process
improvement.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
AND REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires high school
diploma, or equivalent.
According to the U.S. Department of
Labor, Production Worker, DOT#: 529.686-070, is an
unskilled position (30 days or less vocational preparation). The general
educational development requirements include the following:
Reasoning Skills –
Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written
or oral instructions. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in
or from standardized situations.
Mathematical Skills –
Add and subtract two digit numbers; multiply and divide 10s and 100s by 2, 3,
4, 5 and perform the four basic arithmetic operations
with coins as part of a dollar.
Language Skills –
Recognize meaning of 2,500 words; read at a rate of 95-120 words per minute.
Compare similarities and differences between words and between series of
numbers.
Prefer previous safety
training.
PHYSICAL REOUIREMENTS
Ability to stand (60%), walk (15%),
kneel/squat (10%) and bend (15%) for 9 hours. Ability to lift approximately up to a maximum of 100
pounds, approximately 4 times per hour from floor to waist. Ability
to reach from 4 inches 45 times per hour and up to 6 feet, approximately 45
times per hour. May climb stairs (48 stairs) per two
hours and under belts 32 times per day. Performs
repetitive motions, using the hands/arms approximately 6,000 times per hour.
Also, uses the back (twisting) approximately 6,000 times per day. Ability to push/pull upper body 3,600 times per day and whole body
approximately 75 times per day. Pan truck weighs approximately 3,500
pounds and 5-6 plastic baskets weigh 12 pounds. Must be in
good physical condition.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Production
Worker is considered a medium physical demand level job, defined as occasional
exerting force of 20-50 pounds, frequently 10-25 pounds and constantly up to 10
pounds. Based on the 150 pound maximum lift, the position is defined as a very
heavy physical demand level job.
