ENGINEER

 

JOB SUMMARY: Construction, modification, and maintenance of HVAC refrigeration, electrical, Dry and liquid bulk conveying, plumbing, and pneumatic systems.

 

This position has direct and indirect responsibility to ensure that all work activities under its span of control are performed with attention to the highest standards of food quality, safe processes, compliance with all appropriate legal requirements and a focus on continuous process improvement.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.       Installation, modification, and maintenance of equipment, according to engineering principles and safety regulations.

 

2.       Maintenance of plant buildings, equipment, and machinery and other tasks as assigned by management

 

3.       Tests newly installed machines and equipment to ensure proper operation and safety.

 

4.       Maintain a clean equipment and shop area.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Requires high school diploma, or equivalent. Additional post-secondary education is preferred (i.e.: Technical or Vocational education) in areas of industrial engineering.

 

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, a Plant Engineer is a semi-skilled position (three to six months vocational preparation). The general educational development requirements include the following:

 

Reasoning Skills- Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in or from standardized situations.

 

Mathematical Skills- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure; perform the four operations with like common and decimal fractions; compute ratio, rate, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs perform arithmetic operations involving all American monetary units.

 

Language Skills-Reading vocabulary of 5.000-6.000 words; read at a rate of 190-215 words per minute; write compound and complex sentences, using cursive style, proper end punctuation, and employing adjectives and adverbs: speak clearly and distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis, correct pronunciation, variations in work order, using present, perfect, and future tenses.

 

Previous work experience in Industrial engineering preferred.

 

Prefer previous safety training.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Ability to sit (5%), stand (25%), walk (25%), kneel/squat (25%), and bend (20%) for 8 hours. Ability to lift approximately up to a maximum of 75 pounds, approximately 2 times per week from floor to waist. Ability to reach overhead various times per day and to ground various times per day. Climbing stairs and ladders various times per day. Ability to push/pull refrigeration compressors, 55 gallon barrels, motors, gearboxes, and panels weighing 100-450 lbs. upper body approximately various times per day and whole body various times per day. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, an Engineer is considered a heavy physical demand level job, defined as occasional exerting force of 5-100 pounds, frequently 50 pounds, and constantly 20 pounds.

Reading, writing, seeing, hearing, communicating, adding, subtracting, understanding instructions, and complete mental capabilities. Ability to tolerate temperature extremes daily. To be in unprotected heights approximately daily. Exposure and sugar dust, refrigerants, and chemicals daily. The U.S. Department of Labor also reports near and far acuity, depth perception and color vision are other physical demands.
