Position reports to: Bakery Fleet Manager
JOB SUMMARY: Drives trucks or tractors at vehicle parking or
docking area to move position, or parks trucks or trailers. Drives trucks to and from service department and around dock area.
Positions loaded and unloaded trailers at assigned dock space for unloading or
loading. Connects loaded semi-trailers to tractors for tractor
trailer truck driver. Service trucks and tractors.
This position has direct responsibility
to ensure that all work activities under its span of control are
performed with attention to the highest standards of food quality, safe
processes, compliance with all appropriate legal requirements and a focus on
continuous process improvement.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Transports tractor trailers to and from
loading doors

Fuel trucks as
needed using fuel pump

Performs light
mechanic work, e.g., changing tires

Drives yard
tractor to move or reposition trailers
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
AND REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires high school
diploma, or equivalent. Additional
post-secondary education is preferred.
According to the U.S. Department of
Labor, Utility Person, DOT# 909.663-010, is considered
a semi-skilled position (3 to 6 months vocational preparation). The general
educational development requirements include the following:
Reasoning Skills –
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in
written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Deal with problems involving several
concrete variables and/or standardized situations.
Mathematical Skills –
Add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure. Perform the four
operations with like common and decimal fractions. Compute ratio, rate, and
percent. Draw and interpret bar graphs. Perform arithmetic operations involving
all American monetary units.
Language
Skills – Passive vocabulary of 5,000 to 6,000 words. Read at a rate of 190 to 215 words per minute. Write
compound and complex sentences using cursive style, proper in punctuation and
employing adjectives and adverbs. Speak clearly and distinctly with appropriate
pauses and emphasis, correct pronunciation, variations in word order using
present and future tenses.

Previous work
experience in a motor transportation shop management is preferred.
Prefer previous safety
training.
PHYSICAL REOUIREMENTS
Ability to sit (5%), and stand (10%), walk (70%),
knee/squat (5%), and bend (10%) over an 8 hour day.
Ability to lift approximately up to a maximum of 100 pounds, approximately 4
times per day from floor to waist. Ability to reach overhead
30 times per day and to ground 10 times per day. Climbing
stairs and ladders 20 times per day. Climbing in and
out of yard tractor about 100 times per day. Also uses the back
(twisting) 60 times per day. Ability to push/pull 45 pounds
using the upper body approximately 20 times a day and whole body 10 times a
day. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Utility Person is considered a heavy physical demand level job, defined as
occasionally exerting force of 5-100 pounds, frequently 25-50 pounds, and
constantly 10-20 pounds.
OTHER ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS NOT LISTED ABOVE INCLUDE
Reading, writing, seeing, hearing,
communicating, adding, subtracting, and understanding instructions. Ability to tolerate temperature
extremes 8 hours of the day. To be in unprotected heights approximately
50 times a day. The U.S. Department of Labor also reports near and far acuity,
depth perception and color vision are other physical demands.

Yard tractors, over the road tractors, trailers, air
wrenches, pressure washers, tire tools, jacks, mechanic hand tools, and fuel
pumps.
