DESCRIPTION OF JOB
Under the supervision of the
Zoo Director the Zoo Keeper will work with a variety of species. Daily responsibilities
include, but are not limited to: diet prep, cleaning and maintaining exhibits
and off-exhibit animal areas, enrichment, operant conditioning, assisting with
medical procedures, basic record keeping, problem solving, operating a variety
of equipment, vehicles, & power tools and interacting with the general
public / volunteers.
STANDARDS FOR INITIAL CONSIDERATION
Applicants must have good communication and observation skills,
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Applicants must be self-motivated and alert at all times,
Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions year-round,
Ability to walk and stand for long periods, bend, twist, push, reach and be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs repeatedly.
Willing to work on holidays and weekends,
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must have proven experience working with animals, previous zoo experience is preferred,

High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
Possess a valid
Must pass a physical exam including a negative TB screen, drug/alcohol screening and background check upon conditional offer of employment.
