Sixty veterans honored with Quilts of Valor

The American Legion had a packed house Saturday Morning for the Quilts of Valor presentation which honors veterans with hand made quilts for their service.

Veteran George Elliott received a quilt for his service in the United States Navy Reserve from 1960 to 1966.

Another veteran honored with a quilt was James Swafford who enlisted in the Army in 1998 and is still presently serving in the National Guard.

Over 60 unique handmade quilts were presented in honor of the 60th anniversary of the Quilts of Valor Foundation. Quilts were provided by the Emporia Regional Quilt Guild and the Flint Hills Regional Quilt Guild.
