Buzz: Memorial Union brings campus, community together after transformation

Nearly 18 months after the Emporia State Memorial Union was rededicated and reopened to the community, the facility continues to see heavy use.

Director Dave Hendricks was a guest on the ESU Buzz with President Dr. Michael Shonrock recently. He says October's normally hectic schedule pushed into November this year. It's a trend that makes him smile because of what it means for the university and the area.

Shonrock says the Union renovations set the standard as the university considers additional renovations through a long-range campus master plan.

Students voted overwhelmingly to increase certain fees to help pay for the over $20 million transformation process, which led to a more open feel on both the main floor and the second floor -- including a redesign of Webb Hall and other meeting rooms.
