The National Association of Broadcasters held their Annual Radio Luncheon Tuesday, April 17, and announced the winners of their prestigious Crystal Award. KVOE-AM is one of 10 winners in the country.

KVOE'S biggest community service project each year is the Drive for Food which collected over 22,000 non perishable food items for the salvation army food pantry. KVOE also hosts the annual National Teacher Hall of Fame radio auction, which raised $11,000 in 2011, KVOE promotes local non profit activities and fund raisers by airing interviews, over 5,000 minutes of public service annoucements, OVER 5,200 live reads, and over 60 free remote broadcasts. KVOE staffers on a weekly basis take turns delivering friendship meals to the elderly and shut-ins.

KVOE is the only non-Kansas City metro station, in Kansas, to win the Crystal Award.

 

NAB Announces Crystal Radio Award Winners

LAS VEGAS -- The National Association of Broadcasters has named 10 winners of the NAB Crystal Radio Awards. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service. The 2012 NAB Crystal Radio Award recipients listed below were chosen among 50 finalists who were honored at today's NAB Show Radio Luncheon.

Today's NAB Show Radio Luncheon also featured a presentation of the NAB Crystal Heritage Award to KUZZ-FM Bakersfield, CA and a keynote address from entertainer Donny Osmond. Major League Baseball radio broadcaster Bob Uecker was inducted into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame. The luncheon was sponsored by ASCAP.
