13 of the 14 Emporia High Wrestlers remain alive at the 5A regional at Goddard with one having advanced to state after the first day.
Anthony Delgado won his first two matches by fall but was defeated in the semi-finals. He will be in the consolation semi-finals with a chance to finish in 3rd place. 6 other Spartans won their first round matches, Nilton Sandoval, Austin Umana, Hunter Williams, Isaac Williams, Drew Baker and Jeremy Dold. Those 6 would lose in the 2nd round. They need to win their next match to qualify for State.
7 Spartans were defeated in the first round. 5 received byes in the consolation first round. Trey Simons, Caleb Flowers, Efren Palomares, A.J. Rodgriquez and Jose Ultreres. Whitney Hall won his consolation first round match. Those 6 wrestlers need to win their consolation 2nd round matches to advance to state. Only 1 wrestler has been eliminated from the regional tournament, Freshman Teshawn Ervin at 152 pounds. The final day of competition begins at 9am.
